About me…

Standard

As a Stay-At-Home mom who has always embraced a healthy lifestyle, a disdain for pharmaceuticals, and a strong belief that the human body is always capable of healing itself, I was amazed when my sister-in-law told us of her personal health struggles. She has been able to help her body heal itself and rid itself of its disease by managing what it was that SHE ATE (with ZERO pharmaceuticals). A good friend of mine stopped AND REVERSED his father’s Pancreatic Cancer by completely modifying his diet and supplementing with superfoods and un-heard-of supplements.

Having always believed in the body’s ability to heal itself, we were finally ready to take our approach to the next level. Upon my SIL’s recommendation, we finally bought a juicer. We did a lot of research and finally settled on a Single Auger Omega 8006.

From our very first juice we were addicted.

We felt strong and energized. From the very first cup! For the first 2 weeks we juiced 2 or 3 times a day! We quit coffee cold turkey, as the juice replaced it in the morning. After about 3 weeks had passed, we realized we hadn’t had any animal products! Hence the blog’s title “An Accidental Vegetarian”.

We are heavily influenced by the documentaries Forks Over Knives and Food Matters.

We are now practically vegan. I say this because we have a mild Gluten Intolerance and after serious trial (and error) with finding a good Gluten Free Bread, we have discovered that our favorite has egg in it. Some of our favorite baked goods have eggs, and our favorite Organic Crackers have some Cheese in them. That being said, we consume no cheese, no milk, no dairy (except for those dang good crackers). We aren’t 100% Vegan as we also eat seafood on rare occassion.

Follow along with this blog as we list our favorite foods, recipes, food-related studies we find, and general lifestyle predicaments we might find ourselves in!  Please feel free to comment!
